CAST in partnership with Theatrical Threads Ltd are proud to be costuming the entire cast of principal characters for Oliver! at the 2008 Stage Experience being performed at The Palace Theatre, Manchester. Stage experience offers approx. 200 young people from the ages of 10 to 21 the opportunity to work in a professional theatre either performing on stage or as part of the back stage crew and production team. CAST wishes the whole cast and crew every success for their production which runs from 14th to 16th August 2008.

The 2008 AGM saw the Chairman's Cup awarded to Rob Ingham for his work with CAST Academy a hugely successful production of Back to the 80s. Kim Kettle and Keith Hughes share the Ken Howard Trophy (awarded by the membership to the person that brings fun & friendship to the group), and Ryan Thompson becomes the 4th recipient of the CAST Academy Cup.

Following the 2008 AGM, CAST now have their first all-female team of officers. Congratulations to Chris, Becky, Laura and the rest of the committee, and we all wish them well as they look to lead the group through the 2008/9 season.

We are thrilled to announce that at the 2008 NODA London AGM, CAST Academy were nominated and won the brand new "Flame Award" for "Inspirational Contribution to the pursuit of Excellence in Theatre". Tim, Ruth, Rob & Kim along with five of the CAST Academy members were at the AGM and were presented with the award. Well done to everyone within the cast and crew of Honk! !!!!!!!!!!!

Sunday 27th April saw the return of the Parkyn/Cole trophy challenge. Doors opened at 6:30pm with the first question at 7:00pm and a Hot Dog supper was served to everyone in the interval. The winners were ......... Johnny's Giants - after an 11 year gap from the Trophy. Well done to Johnny, Steve, Laura and Phil and to Tim and Sandra for their organisation.

Karen Bold and Sandra Parkyn put together a fantastic evening for everyone at The Berystede Hotel, Ascot on Saturday 31st May 2008. 40 CAST members donned posh frocks, DJ's and an array of masks for our masked ball. The evening was a great success and thank to everyone who helped with the organisation of the event.

Whilst CAST have staged some fantastic musical productions over the years, it has without doubt been the plays that have gained most acclaim. Remember Bouncers and Shakers or Stags and Hens? Each were nominated by NODA for the Ron Kench Shield for Drama in 1996 and 2004 respectively. Dangerous Liaisons was hailed as a 'real achievement', and the recent double bill of After Midnight, Before Dawn & The Demon was 'dripping with atmosphere and left the audience in stunned silence each night'.
A Tale of Two Cities looked set to push the boundaries once more and it certainly didn't disappoint. Audiences were gripped by an evening of pure theatrical emotion, with some stunning stage performances that belie the group's 'amateur' status.
It was the best of shows - but definitely not the worst of shows!
